On this day, the eight-story Rana Plaza building in Dhaka, Bangladesh collapsed, killing 1,127 garment workers and injuring over 2,500. It was one of the deadliest industrial disasters in history. The building housed several factories producing clothes for major global brands, despite visible structural cracks reported a day earlier. This tragedy became a turning point for the fashion industry, sparking global outrage and leading to the creation of the Fashion Revolution movement and new safety accords aimed at protecting workers' rights and lives.
