On a cold April morning in 1961, the world changed forever. Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human to journey into outer space, orbiting Earth aboard the spacecraft Vostok 1. His flight lasted just 108 minutes, but it marked the dawn of human space exploration.

Blasting off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Gagarin's spacecraft soared beyond Earth's atmosphere while he famously radioed the word "Poyekhali!" – Russian for "Let's go!" Inside the tiny, spherical capsule, he had no manual controls—the flight was fully automated. He traveled at a speed of 27,400 km/h (17,000 mph), completing a single orbit before parachuting back to Earth safely.

This incredible mission wasn’t just a win for the USSR during the Cold War—it was a leap forward for all of humanity. Gagarin returned as a global hero, celebrated for breaking the ultimate frontier. His mission inspired generations of scientists, dreamers, and astronauts.
